The PDP in Osun state  has come up  with a new claim of introducing the factional candidate  of the July 16 gubernatorial election in the state,  Omooba Dotun Babayemi as the authentic party candidate.   The leadership of the party involving  their stakeholders held a meeting to that effect  and a press release  by the chairman  Mr Tajudeeen  Adegoke was released. The Senior Staff Association Of Nigeria Universities (( SSANU.) and the Non Academic Staff  Union Of Allied and Education Institutions (NASU), have already reached an agreement with the minister of education  in Nigeria,  Mallam Adamu Adamu to suspend their strike for the next two months pending on when ASUU will call off their own strike. This they related to the press yesterday through their national spokesman in JAC, Comrade Peters  Adeyemi. Their agreement with the minister to call off strike is in line with the two unions' agreement  except  for ASUU who they await their input. The Niger-Deltan region in Nigeria is known for its rich oil resources and most niger- deltan states  are oil producing states. The National Union Of Electricity Employees ( NUEE) has decided to call off her proposed nation wide strike.  This came at the heels of the emergency meeting called by the federal government through the ministry of Labour and Employment.  Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment called for an emergency meeting to quickly address the troubling issue of a total black out national wide by NUEE. The Academic Staff Union Of Universities ((ASUU) once again has extended her long strike of six months already as the Nimi Briggs Committee constituted by the federal government failed to meet up with the ASUU demands of 1.2trn.  During the week, the president of ASUU, Emmanuel Osoedeke gave assurance that they are ready to call off the strike as long as the federal government could meet with their demands.   On tuesday, the meeting between the FG and ASUU was held at the National University Council in Abuja. But unfortunately, that meeting ended inconclusively because the Nimi Briggs led committee failed to meet with ASUU's demands of 1.2trn.
