GOV. SIMON LALONG, A PRODIGAL SON? AS HE APOLOGIZES TO THE VICAR GENERAL OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, POPE FRANCIS AND THE PAPAL KNIGHTS.

The muslim-muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) comprising of Asiwaju Ahmed  Bola Tinubu and former governor of Borno state, Shettima Kashim seems to be causing more stirs and mixed reactions than usual. 

On a norm, such ticket is not suppose to fly in a country like Nigeria because  Nigeria as a country is beyond such levels. Nigeria is a multi-tribal country and so, should be all inclusive. But the APC party seems to get more innovative  by the day thereby causing stirs and mixed reactions  even before the 2023 general elections. 

Big question  is: Why is it so?

During the week, Gov. Simon Lalong who was duly appointed DG (Director-General) of the APC presidential  campaign  team for the 2023 General elections, was heard making reference to the vicar general of the catholic  church, Pope Francis, as not opposing to him been  the appointed DG campaign of the APC presidential  team for 2023.

His statement  indeed influenced  mixed reactions  from critics and  the papal knight which he belonged to in the catholic church. 

Yesterday, 12 of August he wrote a long letter of unreserved apology to the Holy Father ( Pope Francis) and the entire members of the papal knights in the catholic church even the Bishops conference , asking for their understanding and  forgiveness. 

Gov. Lalong went further to say he now realised how his personal  decision  to be the DG campaign for the presidential candidate of the APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his running  mate, Shettima Ibrahim, have affected members of the papal knights and some Nigerians. 

At this point, he tendered his unreserved  apologies and promised to continue to uphold the tenets of the papal  knights  and  even the entire catholic faith, he wrote.

Naira Marley, a Nigerian artiste, became the new face of NDLEA  on the  17th of August  2023 as he visited the headquarters of the NDLEA situated in Abuja, the federal capital territory, to campaign and kick against drug abuse and substance abuse.
