The Institute Of Chartered Accountants ( ICAN), Akure and District Society held her 29th investiture ceremony today at the ICAN House, Alagbaka, in Akure ,the capital city of Ondo State. Top accounting officers were in their numbers as they turned out for the guest speaker's lecture, tittled: Emerging or Emergent Society by Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, Hon. Commissioner for Economic Plannig and Budget, Ondo state. The ICAN initiative was birthed in 1894 but professional accountancy started in 1965 with 65 foreign countries as members, the guest speaker, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan said. And in the course of his lecture, Hon. Igbasan asked a cogent question which was: Do accountants still hold value in Nigeria? He went on to expanciate his question by a follow up answer.
