APC IN OSUN STATE BACKS OUT 48HRS TO LG POLLS IN THE STATE...

The controversy surrounding the judgement of the Appeal court in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun state, has led the opposition party in the state, the APC, to poll out of the LG polls slated for 22nd February 2025.

In the words of the publicity secretary, Hon. Alao Kamarudeen, he said , after the judgement of the appeal court in Osogbo to reinstate the council chairmen and councillors of the APC back in their various secretariats, that he personally sees the entire process of hosting the LG polls in the state on saturday by the PDP government as illegal. And so, the APC party and some other parties will not be participating at the LG Polls on saturday in the state, he said categorically.

The court of appeal actually reinstated the sacked council chairmen and councillors back in their various secretariats after the violent clash between the PDP party and APC party . Six were reported dead, including former chairman of Irewole local government, late Hon. Remi Abbas, who was buried a day after his demise while they continued with the violent clash and many they said sustained injuries as well.

But the  ruling party in the state, the PDP, is saying it is even wrong for the appeal court to reinstate the sacked council chairmen and councillors, hence, they will proceed with the LG Polls on Saturday as slated in the state. 

Let us recall that the APC government under the watch of the former governor, Adegboye Oyetola, now the minister for blue and marine economy had enough time to organize the local government polls in the state before 2022 elasped and yet he failed to do so. 

Now big questions are: Why would the Appeal court in Osogbo reinstate council chairmen and councillors that illegally occupied council secretariats in 2022 till date? Obviously, the process that brought the incumbent council executives on board was wrong because constitutionally, time elasped on the then APC government in the state to organize due processed LG polls in the state.

And if there are no vacancies in the LGAs secretariats in Osun state right now according to the judgement of the appeal court in Osogbo, what should the people of Osun state expect after the LG polls on Saturday 22nd of February 2025?
