INEC DRAWS A LINE OF 1BNAIRA LIMIT AS CAMPAIGN FINANCE/ EXPENSES FOR POLITICAL PARTIES CONTESTING THE GUBERNATORIAL ELECTIONS .

The Independent National  Electoral Commission ( INEC), has set a limit of 1bnaira as campaign finance/expenses for political parties contesting the gubernatorial elections. 

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo state, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola said this at the workshop organized by INEC for political parties.in the state. She said, this is stupilated for political parties and their audirors, according to section 88 (3) of the electoral law.

Let's recall campaigns started since 19th of June 2024 and as a result,  INEC deems it fit to sensitize all political parties and their auditors on campaign finance/ expenses.

This came at the heels of the Edo and Ondo states' gubernatorial elections respectively, as INEC organized workshops and fire service trainings for both political parties and INEC 's staff(s) as a count down to the Edo gubernatorial election in September 2024 and Ondo gubernatorial election in November 2024 as well.

Now, the big question is: Can INEC actually check the campaign funding/ expenditures of each political party contesting the gubernatorial elections in Nigeria?
