OSACA IN ONDO STATE SEEKS A ROBUST BOOST FROM MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE IN THE STATE...Chief Abiodun Adejo, OSACA Chairman.

As the trend to really boost agricultural commodities in Nigeria takes the centre stage in the country, the Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Association (OSACA), has also intensified her efforts to ensure they work hand in hand with the state government under the Ministry of Agriculture in  Ondo state to boost food security for the people of the state. 

A team of the newly elected OSACA excos were led by the chairman of OSACA,  Chief Abiodun Adejo to the office of the honorable commissioner for Agriculture in Ondo state, Hon. Olayato Aribo, in a courtesy visit.

In the course of the official visit to the commissioner, chairman of OSACA,  Chief Abiodun Adejo made known to the honorable commissioner the needs and wants of the association.  He also pointed out the fact that there are other farmers ' associations in the state seeking the attention of the honorable commissioner but that OSACA ranks first in his own mind. Therefore,  they will really appreciate it if the honorable commissioner will give them ( OSACA) the attention they readily seek now in the state in order to mobilize their farmers to boosting food security in the state.

The honorable commissioner in turn gave his support for OSACA  but made tthem to know that there are also some groups of farmers that are not active and practising and yet they come around in the Ministry to make their presence known.The commissioner further asked OSACA to try and unite all other farming associations in the state to avoid segregation, in other to achieve better result  amongst all farmers in the state. 

Further butressing his point,  the honorable commissioner, Hon. Olayato Aribo, observed that the association ( OSACA) does not have data base for its members,  therefore, he suggests they create a database for all farmers in the state.  He urges OSACA to be more proactive and independent in developing the association. 

Lastly,  the honorable commissioner also pledged government support to sponsor this year's celebration of OSIAFFA 2024. Let's recall that this a yearly celebration put together  by OSACA and this year won't be an exception. 

But talking further,  the chairman of OSACA, Chief Abiodun Adejo enumerated some of OSACA 's needs to the commissioner for immediate attention. These needs are maximum security for farmers and their farms produce, Infrastructure such as graded roads in rural communities for easy transportation and access to and fro these farms in the interiors,  capacity building such as training of farmers in  technics in order to boost production,  mechanized farming and lastly, he spoke on cluster farming which he said OSACA as a body is much more interested in. He further expanciate that OSACA will like to leverage on the state dams for maximum irrigation for farms in and around the state.

Their courtesy visit actually came to a close ,when they were sure the honorable commissioner has come to terms with all their needs, because the  chairman of OSACA,  Chief Abiodun Adejo did testify to the fact that agriculture in Ondo state has indeed gotten a big boost under the watch of the honorable commissioner, Hon. Olayato Aribo . 

Big question here is: How much of  paradigm shift do we need from the 

 oil sector to the agriculture sector in order to secure Nigeria in all ramifications again?
