OSACA CHAIRMAN IN ONDO STATE, , CHIEF ABIODUN ADEJO, CHARGES GOV. AIYEDATIWA AND THE INCOMING 18 LG CHAIRMEN, TO GET MORE CONNECTED TO THE GRASSROOT FARMERS IN THE STATE, TO BOOST AGRICULTURE/ FOOD SECURITY IN THE STATE..
In less than 9 months of Gov. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the governor of Ondo state, key sectors such as Agriculture can be mentioned as a pointer to how Ondo state is working hard to place or gain herself a national recognition as one of the emerging states with a thumps up for Agriculture/Food security in Nigeria.
While in an interview with the chairman of OSACA in Ondo state, Chief Abiodun Adejo, Efosa Tv Channel News gathered that the state is really making efforts to secure her citizens in all ramifications and food security is one of them.
Chief Abiodun Adejo is already impressed with the measures the governor is putting in place but still urges governor Aiyedatiwa and the incoming local government chairmen, if and when eventually elected into office in Ondo state, giving the fact that there is a local government autonomy in Nigeria now, to do more by connecting directly with the real farmers at the grassroots. He emphasized that the real deal is from the grassroots to the cities and not the cities to the grassroots and so, he wants Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa to look inward in order to tackle the nitty-gritty of what the local farmers are facing in the state. It should not be top to bottom but bottom to the top, he concluded.
He further said that the real farmers at the grassroots should be given leverage and a voice by enhancing their chances of farming with industrialized farming. A farmer should be well packaged in appearance and in how much he is worth in the bank, but in Nigeria the reverse is the case, he said.
It is high time we change the narrative, he concluded.
Big question now is: How long will it take the FG, State governors and the Local government chairmen to industrialize and mechanise farming in Nigeria in order to make farming more attractive, to properly deal with food insecurity in Nigeria?
