ONDO STATE SUSPENDS LG POLLS INDEFENITELY! IT WILL BE A MASSIVE WASTE OF RESOURCES WHEN HELD. SO ZLP IS NOT PATICIPATING IN THE LG POLLS..... Hon. Akintoye Cornelius, ZLP'S State Chairman.

The long anticipated local government election to be held in Ondo State on July 13th 2024 has been suspended indefinitely! The main reason behind the indefinite suspension was sighted to be that the Gov. Aiyedatiwa led government has not identified with the Inter- Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in the state.

The chairman of IPAC, Ondo state chapter,  Mr Adesanya Olaoluwa confirmed this fact at the stakeholders meeting held on Monday at the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission ( OSIEC). He said for the fact that the governor of Ondo State,  H.E Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has not  identified with us in the state is the reason we are suspending the LG Polls In the state. We want the governor to speak or talk with us on this matter first , he said.

Let's recall that IPAC is the umbrella governing body of all political parties in Nigeria and each state has its own chapter to carry out the duties of IPAC in that state. And so, if IPAC is not in a good space with the governor of Ondo State às at the time of filing in this report, it means IPAC Ondo state chapter has the right to suspend the long anticipated local government election in the state.

On the other hand,  the state chairman of ZENITH LABOUR PARTY in Ondo state , Hon. Akintoye Cornelius  has a different take on the suspension of the LG Polls In the state.. He spoke to Efosa Tv Channel News via telephone interview and sighted his take as : It will be a massive waste of resources if within a short space of time before the gubernatorial election in the state and yet the ruling party,  APC, with the governor, H.E Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as their party leader, will be calling for local government elections in the state. I honestly believe it will not fly with almost all the political parties in the state, he concluded. 

Now the big questions are: What has actually prevented this government of eight years so far in Ondo state from hosting and putting in place her local government chairmen before now? And why is the incumbent governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa not identifying with the IPAC in Ondo state in order to fast track the reality of having  local government chairmen in the state? For the records, is there really a functional state without functional local government areas?
