GOV. OBASEKI WILL BE TAKEN OUT POLITICALLY IF HE IMPOSES A CANDIDATE ON HIS PARTY FOR THE 2024 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN EDO STATE. HE SHOULD CALM DOWN INSTEAD...Primate Elijah Ayodele.

A popular religious media personality, Primate Elijah Ayodele has asked Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo state to look inward before taking a leap at imposing a candidate on his political party, the PDP,  in  the 2024 gubernatorial election in the state.

He said this in a statement  released on tuesday through his media aide Oluwatosin Osho. He goes further to say the PDP governor should not rely on his own understanding to choose a candidate for his party but he should allow the best aspirant to win at the primary to emerge the candidate of the party before the 2024 gubernatorial election in the state.

He said the opposition party, the APC in the state will go all out to make sure power returns to their party in 2024, and so the Edo state gubernatorial election is going to be a very strong one in the state. Anyone who is ready to grab power at the guber election in 2024, should be super ready spiritually and physically,  he said. He also advised Gov. Obaseki to have a spiritual mantra such as : Eghiana Omeno ( This time na my turn).

Big questions now are: Is Gov. Godwin Obaseki really going to impose a candidate on his party for the 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo state? Why is there no level playing grounds in Nigeria politics? What happens when the people of a certain  state are not allowed to choose a candidate of their choice during elections? Is what  has been playing out in Edo state politics gradually turning out to be a case of political godfatherism? What will happen to PDP in the state when it turns out to be a case of imposition of candidate on the party  before the  2024 guber election? Will PDP in Edo state survive the political tussles in the 2024 gubernatorial election if their party is divided?

Edo state is the 4th largest  state in Nigeria  with a population of approximately 4.8million people  currently. The slogan of the state is the heartbeat of Nigeria. In summary, assumably, it is suppose to be one of the largest in terms of IGR( Internally generated revenue).
And so, recently Gov. Godwin Obaseki was heard saying he has, in his seventh year now as the governor of the state, taken bold steps to turn around the economy of the state by 140% .

And If that is true, is he going to throw all that away in 2024 by selfish interest of imposing a candidate on his party for the gubernatorial election in the state? Let the PDP decide on how to build and sustain their party in Edo state.
