EDO STATE POLITICAL JUGGERNAUTS IN A CROSS ROAD NOW. WHAT IS NEXT FOR THE HEART BEAT OF THE NIGERIAN STATE?

Edo state is said to be the heartbeat of Nigeria as her slogan suggests. But in recent times a lot of political brouhaha have been on the display oweing to the fact that political big wigs in the state are always having the centre stage for their political tussles. 

From the times of Comrade Adams Oshiomole as the governor of Edo state up until the political baton was exchanged with  Gov. Godwin Obaseki in  2016, and who is still the incumbent governor of the state, a lot of political crisis have been bedelviling the state.

And the big question now is: Why?

Gov. Obaseki is in his seventh year as the governor of the state and is already having his anointed  for the gubernatorial election in Edo state come 2024. Now, is that the bone of contention here?

On the other, Comrade Philip Shaibu is the incumbent deputy governor of the state and is also having his political ambition in the 2024 gubernatorial election in the state. 
Question again is: What is wrong with such ambition?

Gov. Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu have been having good times in government until things started falling apart between them since 2020. Could the former governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, did see signs of  the power tussles ahead such as now and he then advised Gov. Obaseki to let go of his deputy, Philip Shaibu, in 2020?

Why is Edo state politics always in crisis? And what happens to power rotation in the state? 

Edo state has three senatorial districts. Edo South,  Edo North and Edo Central. Edo South have had her fair share of the government house in the state through previous and subsequent governments. And Edo North has also tasted the government house in Edo state for the past eight years. Now, common sense calculation shows that it is the time and the right of Edo Central to produce a credible governor for the state come 2024 gubernatorial election in the state, because the power rotation in the state must go round for peace and all inclusiveness to reign in the state. 

So now, the big questions are: What is an Edo North man in the person of Comrade Philip Shaibu hoping to do or to achieve in 2024 gubernatorial election? And who is  the anointed godson of Gov. Godwin Obaseki? Is he from Edo Central? 

Let Edo state start to decide for herself now in order to be on a smooth ride come 2024 gubernatorial election in the state.
